Prof. Oner was born on 3/1/1944 in Kemah, Erzincan (Turkey). She was educated at Kandilli High School for Girls and obtained: MD Degree from Istanbul University, Faculty of Medicine (1969); and PhD Degree from Hacettepe University, Faculty of Postgraduate Education in 1972.
As an Assistant Professor in Surgical Research Center of Hacettepe Medical School between 1972-1976, she attended the Medical Research Center of the University College Hospital (London) to upgrade her skills and practice in Radioimmunoassay for 6 months. From 1976 to 1985, she worked as an Associate Professor and Senior Researcher in the Surgical Research Center of Hacettepe Medical School. In July 1980, Dr Oner attended the University of Calgary, Faculty of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics (Alberta/Canada) to study the relationship between Neurohypophyseal Hormones and Zinc; from 1981 to 1982, she studied the effect of Zinc deficiency on Somatomedin Levels in rats in the Department of Endocrinology the Medical College of University of Saskatchewan (Saskatoon/ Canada).
Between 1986 and 1997, Dr Oner worked as a Full Professor in Physiology and heads of the Department of Physiology and Biophysics and directed the Medical Research Center as well as the Institute of Health Sciences at Akdeniz University ((Antalya/Turkey). From 1997 to 2010 she continued her reaserch and theaching duties as a professor at the department of physiology of the faculty of Medicine. Now she lives in Antalya and Ankara.

She is the author or co-author of more than 50 scientific medical publications on various areas of endocrinology, nutrition and renal physiology.
