Farhan Jalees Ahmad, PhD, is currently a Professor and Dean, School of Pharmaceutical Education & Research, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, India is an internationally known researcher in the area of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Having obtained his degree in M.Pharma and Ph.D (Pharmaceutics) from Jamia Hamdard, he continues to teach and leads a very productive research group which has been funded extensively by National and international funding agencies. 

Dr. Ahmad has 27 years of rich experience in Research and Teaching. He has experience of industrial research through his fruitful association with Ranbaxy Research Laboratories for six long years as Scientist. His domain of research therein included development, scale-up, technology transfer and launching of pharmaceutical products, both for domestic and international markets. 

The focus of his group has been in the area of Nanomedicine and many of his nano products have been approved by the DCGI and successfully transferred to the Defense Services for use in the armed forces. Nano DPI with a lung deposition of >60% was clinically proved in patients of COPD. His work on iron oxide magnetic nanoparticles showed advantages of combined paclitaxel and curcumin in terms of reducing toxicities and improving therapeutic effects in the treatment of solid tumors. 

He has published more than 450 research publications, 16 Books, 12 book chapters and has two US patent, three PCTs and 24 Indian patents. With a total citation of 13059, H-Index of 52 and i-10 index of 288, Professor Ahmad's work has been clearly well received by the scientific community. He has supervised -35 M. Pharma students and -43 PhD scholars. Besides this, he continues to offer consultancy to small pharmaceutical setups. 

He has earned many accolades including Young Scientist Fast Track from DST, Scientist of the Year-2005 from NESA, UGC Research Award 2011, Bharat Jyoti Award 2011, Pharma Ratan 2017, ABAP Senior Scientist Award 2017 and also prizes in scientific poster session in National Pharmacy Symposium. He played a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the state-of-the-art Nanomedicine Lab and Central Instrumentation Facility at Faculty of Pharmacy. 

He is an active member of bodies like IPA, APTI, NESA, MAAS, IPGA, IHPA, CRS and ICA, and also holds their life memberships. He has served Indian Pharmaceutical Association, Delhi Branch in the capacity of Member Executive Committee, Honorary Secretary and as President for two terms. He has also served as General Secretary for SPDS(Society for Pharmaceutical Dissolution Science), North chapter.
