Professor Dr. Ahmad Zaharin Aris, CEnv, MRSC, FAPM, FTWAS, FASc, is a distinguished academician and researcher specializing in hydrochemistry, environmental chemistry, and environmental forensics. He has been instrumental in establishing national and international guidelines and policies on environmental and health issues. His work has led to the creation of comprehensive chemical databases for fingerprinting and a hub for training and technological transfer in environmental forensics. Professor Aris has been recognized with numerous awards, including the Top Research Scientist Malaysia (2019), the Finalist for the Zayed International Prize (Young Scientists Award for Environmental Sustainability), and the Malaysia APEC Science Prize for Innovation, Research, and Education (“ASPIRE”) in 2019 and 2022. He is also a Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), UNESCO, and the Islamic World Academy of Sciences (IAS), highlighting his contributions to science in developing countries and the Islamic world.
