Prof. Badri Bin Muhammad

Born in May 1943, Prof. Badri earned a BSc (Hons.) at St Francis Xavier University (1969) and a PhD at Dalhousie University (1972) in Chermistry.

He started as a temporary teacher in 1965, then was appointed lecturer at Pertanian Malaysia University (1972-1975), Associate Professor (1976-1984) and since 1984 is Dean and Professor, Faculty of Science and Environmental Studies, at the same University. His teaching experience covers lecture and laboratory supervision in undergraduate courses on Transition Metal Chemistry, Solid State Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, and Physical Chemistry. He published a number of research works and was for some time engaged in research activities in “physico-chemical measurements of the properties of solids,” “preparation of activated carbon from local materials” (a patent was granted in 1984), “decolourization of palm-oil” and “preparation of supported metal catalysts,” and presented papers on scientific and academic administration topics at several national and international conferences.

The Malaysian Delegation to IUPAC Commission on High Temperature and Solid State Chemistry.

Prof. Badri Muhammad is a Founding Fellow of the Islamic Academy of Sciences (1986) and a Founding Fellow of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (1996).
